Journey
There’s a quiet intensity about Langa Mavuso, the kind that doesn’t demand attention but draws it naturally. Born Nkosinathi Nhlakanipho Mavuso on 25 January 1994 in Johannesburg, South Africa, he has become one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary South African R&B.
Raised in a musical household, his foundation was built in choir rehearsals before formal training refined his craft. He studied contemporary music at the National School of the Arts and later majored in jazz performance at the University of Cape Town, an education that shaped the depth and precision evident in his work.
His breakthrough came in 2016 with the EP Liminal Sketches, led by the evocative track “Sunday Blues,” which caught the attention of Black Coffee and expanded his profile. Projects like Home and the 2020 album LANGA established his signature style, combining expressive singing, introspective writing, and candid storytelling.
With 2025’s Therapy (The Other Side), Langa explored themes of loss, healing, and self-discovery, further proving his ability to craft music that resonates on a personal level. In every song, he reveals more than performance, positioning himself as a defining storyteller in modern South African music.
